Short Video Tutorial: Blue Eyeliner Using an Eyeshadow Stick

Blue Winged Eyeliner Using MUA Makeup Academy Eyeliner Brush

Just wanted to share a really short and easy makeup tutorial of how to get a colourful winged eyeliner using only an eyeshadow stick/cream eyeshadow and a thin eyeliner brush. I was inspired by this lovely look by Nicoles Beauty. Her look is absolutely flawless though, but let's just say mine is a tutorial for beginners hey :)

EOTD Purple & Orange Mineral Eyeshadows, Winged Liner

Earthnicity UK Mineral Eyeshadows Purple and Orange

Here is the look I created the first time I played around with my Earthnicity mineral eyeshadows, see in this post. As I mentioned, I had been wanting a shade like this orange ones for ages and could not wait to try it out. So far I am really happy with the eyeshadows, hardly any fall out, and great pigmentation.

What I've used for this look:

  • Earthnicity Mineral Eyeshadow, shade orange pop
  • Earthnicity Mineral Eyeshadowshade indigo gleam
  • Wet & Wild Palette, black eyeshadow

♥ Earthnicity Mineral Makeup, Eyeshadows & Mineral Foundation

Earthnicity Mineral Eyeshadows

I've got sent these gorgeous samples from a UK brand called Earthnicity. So far I am very impressed. I haven't tried a lot of mineral makeup before, only eyeshadows. I've liked them but thought they were a bit messy. This is definitely not the case with these! I will post a look I created using some of the eyeshadows tomorrow.

Earthnicity Mineral Eyeshadows

Eyeshadows: As I said below, I've only tried a couple so far but as you can see on the swatches below, these have great pigmentation! One thing that surprised me was that the consistency of the eyeshadow "powder" was very creamy, I believe it is because it is a very fine powder. It has surprisingly little fall out (less than my solid eyeshadows) which is a huge plus.

Mineral Foundation, shade: warm caramel: Let me start of by saying that I have been wanting to try a mineral/powder foundation forever! Only reason I haven't tried is because I do know that they tend to be quite price (Earthnicity however, offer samples on the website). Now the problem was my shade, I never find my shade of foundation, nor powder- probably why I don't use either. But with the description: "For lightly tanned skin with warm undertones...light mixed-race African Caribbeans. For those with lighter skin..." (I've shortened this quote), I thought hey, that's me. And it turns out the shade was a perfect match. Oh I tried wearing this today to work and my supervisor said that my skin looked great, for someone to observe that the result must have been pretty good.

Earthnicity Mineral Eyeshadows Swatches

Please note that this is not a review, I always like to do a first thoughts post with a lot of pictures and how I've been getting on so far. Also, I was soo excited about this orange shade below. As with the mineral foundation- this is another random makeup item I've been yearning (lol) for forever! That exact orange shade I mean..

Have you heard of this brand, and what do you think of the shades?

♥ New Beauty Products from Garnier, Loreal & LA Colors

Beauty Products from Garnier, Loreal & LA Colors

Just wanted to show you guys these products I picked up at Westfield when I met up with lovely Nicole from Nicole's Beauty. It's quite funny because she is also Swedish/Nigerian like myself, except plus Finish as well :) . The scrub and mascara were things that I needed because my previous ones had finished, and the LA Colour stuff was just something I wanted to try out because they were cheap and I hadn't tried them before.

So this palette has got such nice shades! Now that I think of it, it sort of looks like a dupe from this INGLOT palette that I put in a recent makeup wish list. It was so odd because the shades of the untouched palettes looked completely different to the tester ones in some cases, which caused a lot of confusion to me, to say the least lol. In the end I skeptically settled for the explanation "the top layer of the shadows have a slightly different colour". Turns out it was true.

Oh my god, I've been wanting a purple lipstick for soo long guys. I did want a darker one, but since this was only £1 I thought it might be fun to try it out. Love the shade and pigmentation is good as well, however the formula is a bit strange. It's that kind of formula that sometimes doesn't want to "stick" to your lips, especially not in the inner/middle parts of your lips. It is still great for a pound though.

Oh yeah and speaking of LA Colors and purple lipsticks, I can't believe I won Akilah's (from http://perfectlyrandomblog.blogspot.co.uk/) giveaway!! :) (the price was a purple lippy, la colour shadows etc)

Have you tried LA colours?
Do u know any other bargain purple lipstick?

♥ Crazy Natural Inc Hair, Bath & Body Oil Review

Crazy Natural Inc Hair, Bath & Body Oil Review

I must say that now that I am transitioning to natural hair (read about that here), I spend a lot of time on Instagram searching for hashtags for inspiration, hair products & tips. Crazy Natural Inc is a brand I discovered on follow there and I love seeing her new products and also pics of her gorgeous hair. You might know I am very much into hair care DIY's so home made and natural hair products really interest me. Anyway, she was kind enough to send me some samples which I was very happy to try out.

Crazy Natural Inc Hair, Bath & Body Oil
I always like to have an "all round oil" that I use after showering, in my hair and scalp if it is light enough. So the timing was perfect for me to try this out. I love that it comes in an applicator bottle like this, and I am so re using it when it is finished. Top ingredient is Coconut Oil which is my favourite oil (read my post on it here), followed by oils such as Olive Oil and Vitamin E at the bottom. What really amazes me is that not only is the oil very light (I'd say lighter than Olive/Almond Oil), but a little heaver than Coconut/Jojoba Oil- which is probably due to the Coconut Oil in there. But despite Coconut Oil being at the top, the oil mix is completely liquid and even though it is super cold in my room, it has never gone cloudy or started to solidify.

For Hair & Scalp: A great every day sealant (to use after moisturising hair). Will get absorbed by your hair very well, as the top ingredient is Coconut Oil (which penetrates the hair cuticle). A big plus is that it is light enough to use on your scalp and I really recommend applying it to your scalp a few times per week and giving your self a scalp massage to promote growth. Coconut Oil is amazing to maintain and healthy scalp, and Vitamin E is great if your scalp is dry, or itchy as it can help heal it.

For body: I've mainly used this oil for my body, every day after I showered, I just apply it while my skin is wet. The applicator bottles is a big plus when doing so and by the time I am out of the shower, and brush my teeth- the oil has been absorbed into my skin. For parts of my body that are more prone to getting dry like knees, feet and elbows, I use the Crazy Natural Inc Shea Body Butter which you can see below.

Look out for my review on the items above! :)

Will you try this brand, and do you prefer all natural brands?

♥ Health Store Beauty and Hair Staples- Aloe Vera Gel, Cold PressedCoconut Oil & Peppermint Oil

Health Store Beauty and Hair Staples- Aloe Vera Gel, Cold Pressed Coconut Oil & Peppermint Oil

Health Store Beauty and Hair Staples- Aloe Vera Gel, Cold Pressed Coconut Oil & Peppermint Oil

Biona Organic Cold Pressed Coconut Virgin Oil, Raw

Feel free to read about my love for cold pressed Coconut Oil here. I like the cheap refined one to, it's still amazing for hair and scalp. But oh my god, the virgin one smells so amazing- if you like Coconut that is. It smells like your smelling the cake mix of that Coconut cake whatever it is called. Mixing this with peppermint oil is amazing on your scalp. I have really been trying my best to not buy this as it is "expensive" (£5.99), well expensive for how much I use it anyway.

Pure Aloe Vera Gel from Random Aloe Pura

Well I usually buy the pure one from the same brand but it looks like I picked up the one with added vitamins this time. I love Aloe Vera gel in the summer on my skin because it is soo soothing after staying out for too long in the sun. Anywho it is clearly not summer in the UK atm so I am buying it to use in my hair, it's great as a moisturiser when you don't want to add any water and also as a soft hold gel. For me it doesn't leave any residue.

Angel's Garden Peppermint Essential Oil

I found this in my local health store shop and it was pretty cheap for £4. However I do think it is slightly less potent so next time I will just stick to my Holland & Baretts Peppermint Essential Oil. As I mentioned below, I love Peppermint for scalp massages- it is great for stimulating your scalp, thereby stimulating growth. The cool sensation that Peppermint Oil leaves is great for itchy scalps as well.

What are your beauty & hair favourites from the health store?

♥ Transitioning Diaries Pt. 9: Transitioning To Natural Hair 10 Months Post Relaxer (Curly/Natural Hair)

Transitioning To Natural Hair 10 Months Post Relaxer (Curly/Natural Hair) | Instagram: @Yolandaas

Oh my god! When compared to my 7 months update, it looks like it has almost grown twice as much lol? Maybe the way I took the pictures were different that time, but it has definitely grown a lot. See similar pictures but 7 months post relaxer, here.

The pictures below are of curls from the top of my head.

Check out my Youtube page and subscribe for natural hair videos :) x

Transitioning To Natural Hair 10 Months Post Relaxer Curl Pattern 3c 4a hair

Finally! My 10 months post relaxer update, for those who have followed my journey on transitioning to natural hair. I have to say that overall it is going soo well, I am starting to realise that my hair has actually grown quite a lot, definitely average growth or slightly more (it's hard to tell exactly how much it has grown). Of course people with Afro hair or very curly hair will also have a lot of shrinkage, so your hair won't appear to be that long.

Transitioning To Natural Hair 10 Months Post Relaxer Curl Pattern 3c 4a hair

Just showing you some pictures of my curl pattern again, as well as how long my hair is in its naturally curly state, versus how long it is when "stretched".

Below are some picture of my wet hair.

These pictures are actually while I have my deep conditioner in, it looks pretty curly, but then again so do my dry curlies :) Trying to show you that my "side curls" look slightly different, I'd say slightly less tight compared to the ones at the top of my head.

♥ 30 Day Shred Update No. 2

30 Day Shred Update No. 2 (Click for No.1)

To see my "belly snaps" on Instagram, with almost daily progress pictures. Follow me "Yolandaas" or click here.

So as Promised I am writing update number two on the 30 Day Shred work out, as I have just started Level 2 (which you start after doing 10 days of Level 1). See all the information about this work out video here. I have also done almost daily updates with a belly snap lol on my Instagram, which you can view online here. Today is my 12th day so I have done 2 days of Level 2 already.

In this post I just wanted to update you on how it is going, what's been easy and what's been tough, and whether I've seen any results so far.

How did Level 1 go?
As expected, in addition to not being that tough, Level 1 was very easy to get used to and after about 5 days I found myself getting used to it. It was still "hard" but time sort of flied when I did the work out and it felt more like 10 minutes as opposed to 20. As I explained in the first post, I was using 4 kg dumbbells when the heaviest your were meant to use was 3 kg. Please note that my arms are my weakest post lol so it was pretty tough. But then again, as Level 1 wasn't very intese, I feel like heavier dumbbells seems pretty logical.

How is Level 2 going?
Well let me start of by saying that I was meant to start Level 2 (my 11th day) on Friday, which was also my 20th birthday. Due to not being home all day, and not being able to work out without disturbing other people when I got home- I had to skip that day. I wasn't happy about that but oh well. So today I've done my second day of Level 2 and it is pretty tough!

I thought I'd show you the toughest work outs according to me:

1. -Well the first pic at the top of the post, "jump rope" double jumps. They are surprisingly tough when you are already out of breath from previous work outs.

 2. Planking with jumps. I've tried to take screen shots so that you can actually understand the move. You start of in planking position, then jump (feet landing near your arms), then jump back into position again. Hurts your legs as h*ll!
 3. Static Lunges with arms. The arms are definitely not the tough part here. I would have never guessed that static lunges were so tough (static meaning you don't move, you stay in the positin all along, but moving your arms).
 4. Jumping oblique twists. Looks a little like the exercise in this video, but arms are moving the way you can see in the pic. Again, in conjunction with other leg exercises this hurts my legs as crazy after a while!
5. Sitting down as pictured while lifting the weights up as pictured. When you stand up again, you bring the weights down. This really makes my arms hurt!
6. The "Skater Exercises". Again, hope you can understand from the picture what the exercise is. If you look at Jillian (middle), after you've done what she does on the picture, you take a jump, but towards the other side, thereby switching leg. Sorry about the bad explanation lol.

To see my "belly snaps" on Instagram, with almost daily progress pictures. Follow me "Yolandaas" or click here.

Have u done this or any similar challenge?

What's your best exercise tip?

xx

♥ Garnier, Wet & Wild, Real Techniques, Clinique.. Favourites.

Garnier, Wet & Wild, Real Techniques, Clinique.. Favourites

Sleek Face Form Palette, Garnier Pure Self Heating Sauna Mask, Wet & Wild Palettes, Freeze 24.7 Ice Crystals Anti-Aging Prep And Polish Skincare Scrub, MUA Makeup Academy Makeup Brushes, Real Techniques Multi Tasker Brush (from the Travel Essentials set), INIKA Organic Eyeshadow, Clinique 7 Day Scrub

So I don't write favourites posts too often as I don't buy new products frequently and I don' want to keep posting the same old staples all over again! However this months I've a few new products in addition to trying some samples I hadn't got around to trying before.

Sleek Face Form Palette
You might have read my first thoughts post on this product, If so, you'll know that I absolutely love. I love the concept of a three in one contour, highlight and blusher and for me personally and my skin tone, these shades are perfect. This is a new staple for me.

Garnier Pure Self Heating Sauna Mask
I headed to Superdrug to buy any clay or peel off face mask sachet and I saw this one, which I had not tried before. It was £1 for two separate sachet so I thought I'd try it. I've always had a good experience with Garnier products and this product was another one! The formula was thin enough to distribute evenly (on wet skin), there was some self heating, but not that much. The main thing was that when I washed it off I reallyyy felt like it had dragged the impurities out of my skin, for £1 I think that's pretty good.

Wet & Wild Palettes
Two more recent purchases which I am sure you guys have already heard a lot of in my blog. As much as I don't want to, I have to admit that I bought both of these mainly for the mattes. But I don't even care because I am so happy with them- I'd say these were also new staples of mine but Wet & Wild isn't exactly easily accessible in the UK. I've got a few possibly blog swaps planned so that might work out any way.

Freeze 24.7 Ice Crystals Anti-Aging Prep And Polish Skincare Scrub

We got a few of these at the #bbloggersxmas goodie bag back in December. I hadn't got around to trying it until now. Why? To be honest, I didn't understand what it was. Is it a lotion, face mask, scrub? Because the packaging just says how to use it and so on. Anyway, turns on it's a really great face scrub. It has super tiny pretty sharp beads so it is not a daily nor gentle scrub- but that's how I like it. The formula is pretty thin and feels like it doesn't contain any oils. However when I washed it off my face- it was left super moisturised as if I had just applied a moisturiser or face oil. Also, it didn't give me a tingling or cold feeling except when I washed it off, it felt really cold on my skin. Be careful, this tends to get in your eyes when washing it off somehow, probably because of the ingredient which gives that cold feeling.

So I have finally been filled in on the whole MUA social media drama a few days ago, which left many people saying they will not buy their products. Personally, I think that is a bit excessive, what happened has nothing to do with how I feel about their products. Now to the point, these brushes are soo amazing. I am particularly impressed with this blending brush and the eyeshadow contour brush. The blending brush is the best one I've ever tried, it's not super big and slightly more dense than all the other blending brushes I've tried. I think this gives that flawless blended result.

Real Techniques Multi Tasker Brush (from the Travel Essentials set)

Another great product from Real Techniques, I'm mentioning this in this post because this is my new favourite brush to use every day for bronzer or blusher. It's just really easy to use and as with all RT brushes- really soft.

INIKA Organic Eyeshadow
This is the shade "Autumn Plum" and it was also in the #bbloggersxmas goodie bag. I tried it out and reviewed it here, but it was only recently when I tried it for a smokey eye look that I started to really love it! See the makeup look here.

Clinique 7 Day Scrub
This is another sample sized product that I had, but hadn't tried it yet. I know Clinique is a very known brand so I thought maybe it was a bit hyped, for nothing. But when I tried the scrub I really liked it, it's a great everyday scrub, it actually gives quite a good scrub, but it is still gentle and the formula is very creamy. Not sure about the ingredients in this though, anybody know?

Have you tried any of these products?

xx

♥ Blogs You Have To Check Out :)

Favourite Blogs of the Week Pt.1

Blogs You Have To Check Out (in no particular order) :)
I know the layout looks a bit strange but I've used the same setting for all, all the titles are meant to be centred but it just doesn't work with the first one *smh*.

The Beauty Blog

 http://sleepandwater.blogspot.co.uk/
This is a blog I recently discovered and just loved straight away. Her photos are so bright and clear- exactly how I wish all my photos were. You will like this if you like reading about reviews, swatches, tags, favourites and all those typical beauty blogger posts. (I couldn't find any "face" pics nor profile pic, hence the only face less blog lol)

The Makeup Blog

http://www.thatigbochick.com/
Out of all these blogs, this is the blog I've known about for the longest time. I immediately loved Dimma's blog because of her flawless and colourful makeup looks. You know that person who's makeup always looks absolutely perfect? That's her. She also takes amazing high quality photos.

The Fashion Blog
http://www.cosasbella.com/
This blog is another recent discovery of mine, when I first started to read blogs I only read fashion blogs and I've been trying to find some new great ones. She is into styling and has an amazing unique and fashionable style. Check her out of you new outfit inspiration!

The Hair Blog
 http://awindowofthoughts.blogspot.co.uk/
Rebecca is a hair care blogger and fellow UK "transitioner" like myself. When I discovered her blog, as I kept reading I could relate to so many of her posts. We had some similar posts, we are both transitioning- and we have similar curl pattern ;) She takes amazing pics and she posts DIY's, transitioning updates, braid tips & tricks. Check her blog out if you love hair blogs.

The Hair & Beauty Blog
http://freshlengths.blogspot.co.uk/
I get major blog envy when I visit Lesley's blog- I just love her layout and writing style. She also has really clear and bright picture, super nice makeup pictures and swatches. As a hair blogger she has gone from neck length to the amazing mid back length (see progress pics here). Check her blog out for great hair inspo and tips on how to grow long hair, and amazing beauty posts and swatches!

♥ Chantecaille Luminous Lip Gloss Shade Guava

Chantecaille Luminous Lip Gloss Shade Guava

A picture of Chantecaille Luminous Lip Gloss Shade Guava

This is a lip gloss from the brand Chantecaille. Before I got this (Xmas present), I had never heard of the brand before but from doing a little bit of research, I've understood that it is a high end brand and a little random fact- it's become quite known because Angelina Jolie was seen using one of these lip glosses. You can find the full size of this lip gloss here, for £27.

Here is a little info from the website: "CHANTECAILLE is the preeminent luxury brand for serious skincare and beautifying cosmetics known for its uniquely high concentration of natural botanicals. The line stands out for the extensive research and technological innovation invested in each ground-breaking formula. It is also distinguished by the exceptional purity of its ingredients, which are endowed with a potent life force capable of nourishing and revitalizing the skin, the body and the spirit."

A picture of Chantecaille Luminous Lip Gloss Shade Guava

As you can see the pigmentation is "medium", I'd say it's pretty pigmented for a lip gloss. The formula is super creamy and thick when you put it on, which you hopefully can see looking at the picture of the lip gloss applicator to the right. I found that it looked very nice paired with Collection 2000 Cream Puff Moisturising Lip Cream- you can see it in this makeup look (a few of you asked about the lip gloss I was wearing) and a review here.

A picture of Chantecaille Luminous Lip Gloss Shade Guava
Picture above borrowed from: www.chantecaille.com

I usually only use my own pictures in my blog but I just wanted to show you what the full sized products look like, and all the pretty colours. They are so gorgeous! I'd love to try out some more stuff from this brand but it is pretty pricey. Lucky I got this lip gloss from my aunty!

Which one is your favourite shade?
& Had you heard of the brand Chantecaille before?

♥ EOTD: Wet & Wild Makeup Look using Pride Orgueil & Greed Gourmandise

EOTD: Wet & Wild Makeup Look using Pride Orgueil & Greed Gourmandise

A picture of Wet & Wild Makeup Look using Pride Orgueil & Greed Gourmandise
Here is yet another makeup look using my new Wet & Wild palettes, I absolutely love them so far and I'm so happy I found a place that stocks them. The light coral & beige matte shades in the Greed Gourmandise are perfect transitioning and highlighting shades and I've used them for all my makeup looks since I bought the palette. Even though at first glance it might seem like I've mainly used the Pride Orgueil (blue/turquoise) palette but I've actually used all three mattes from the Greed Gourmandise (Coral & Black shades) palette as well.

How I got this look:

What fo you think of this makeup?
Have u tried Wet & Wild eyeshadows?
